GCM 2018

The first  GANIL-Community Meeting will be held from October the 8th to the 12th 2018 at the Musée des Beaux Arts of Caen (France).

The purpose of the meeting is to bring together the whole GANIL community to discuss and define coherently the future research programs for GANIL. Several presentations will be organized to review both the intended experimental and theoretical programs related to GANIL covering the main topics as follows:

  • Study of the N~Z nuclei
  • Nuclear structure at the shells closures
  • Nuclear dynamics
  • Study of Heavy Elements (Z>92)
  • Application to the Nuclear Astrophysics
  • Atomic Physic
  • Giant collective modes
  • Phenomena at the particle threshold
  • Fundamental interactions

An overview of the status of the infrastructures (accelerators, spectrometers and instrumentation) will also be given.
For every physics topic, a series of presentations will be organized addressing:Open questions in the field

  • SPIRAL2 Phase1 physics program
  • Cyclotrons/SPIRAL1 physics program
  • Challenges for nuclear physics theory (where applicable)

These presentations, resulting from the in-depth review work of a group of experts, will cover the state-of-the-art of the field and the physics programs to be developed in the upcoming 5-year time period. Together with the users, these will serve to trigger discussion to establish GANIL’s experimental program, the related theoretical research and the corresponding calls for proposals.

A poster session will be also organized.

The GANIL community meeting will be also the occasion for the first constituting meeting of the newly elected GANIL User Executive Committee (GUEC). To become a member, please register at https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/portal/

This workshop has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 730989.
